Svein H. Gullbekk (ur. 1967), profesor w Instytucie DENCAUH w Muzeum Historii Kultury Uniwersytetu w Oslo (Department of Ethnography, Numismatics, Classical Archaeology and University History).
Jako członek zespołu ELITES koncentruje się na różnorakich aspektach polskiej i norweskiej kultury politycznej w okresie pełnego średniowiecza, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem historii monety i mennictwa.
Studia magisterskie ukończył na Uniwersytecie Oksfordzkim (1997), studia doktoranckie w zakresie średniowiecznej numizmatyki i historii na Uniwersytecie w Oslo (2003 r.). Jego rozprawa doktorska, opublikowana jako “Pengevesenets fremvekst og fall i Norge i middelalderen” (Copenhagen 2009), doprowadziła do zmian w podejściu do średniowiecznej numizmatyki i historii pieniądza w Norwegii, dzięki zastosowaniu przez autora interdyscyplinarnej metodologii łączącej numizmatykę, historię i archeologię.
Gullbekk był kierownikiem projektu “Religion and Money: Economy of Salvation in the Middle Ages” (2013–2017, finansowanego ze środków the Research Council of Norway).
Obecnie pracuje w projekcie ‘Human Sacrifice and Value’ kierowanym przez prof. Rane Willerslev (2018-2022, finansowany ze środków the Research Council of Norway).
Gullbekk był kuratorem kilku wystaw muzealnych, m. in. “For the Love of Freedom”, “Transformation – faith and sacred objects in the Middle Ages”.
Jest członkiem zespołów badawczych:
– “Centre for Viking-Age Studies” at the Museum of Cultural History, initiated by Professor Dagfinn Skre in 2009
– “Systems of Knowledge in the Nordic Middle Ages (800-1550)” headed by Jón Viðar Sigurðsson and Hans Jacob Orning (since 2017)
Od 2020 r. kieruje zespołem badawczym: “Money and its use in Northern Europe in the Middle Ages”.
